I was fortunate enough to be volunteering at church with Melinda Willis when she started talking about Rivers Academy and a possible job opening. With my business/accounting background and previously being employed by Johns Creek Elementary, I was able to pursue two of my favorite things at Rivers Academy: working with numbers and working with children. What a perfect fit!! Needless to say, I love them both!
Bachelors of Science in Business, University of Georgia
In 2009, I was searching for a school to give my daughter the opportunity to flourish in her passion of gymnastics without compromising an advanced curriculum program. After interviewing several schools, we were thrilled to find Chalk to Champions (now known as Rivers Academy). The school and academic program exactly "fit the mold" for our schedule and high academic expectations. As Rivers Academy continued to grow, I became more engaged in the Rivers Academy family. I certainly believed in the academic philosophy and wanted to become more involved by assisting the students/families. I was blessed to take on the role as the Parent Liaison where I get the opportunity to assist students/families with many facets of the school, including New Family Orientation, training and providing a direct contact for academic support while students are traveling and "pursuing their passions." Rivers Academy is truly a unique experience with an
incredible faculty and student body!
Bachelors of Science; Double Major: Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education, Brigham Young University
In the spring/summer of 2009, we were searching for a school to give our children an opportunity to flourish where they would not be just another name, face, or number. We drove right by Chalk to Champions (now known as Rivers Academy) several times per week, and were intrigued enough to stop in one day while it was in session. We met the Founder Melinda Willis and the rest, as they say, was history! We fell in love right away with the student-centered atmosphere and the friendly teachers and staff. It is my pleasure to work in the office as a test proctor, snack manager, Sunshine Club director, and project manager. It also gives me the ability to see my daughter more often, as well as get to know so many of these fantastic students!
Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis on Drawing & Painting, Minor in Sociology, University of Georgia
I am very excited to be joining the Rivers Academy team! My role at Rivers will be working in the front office, helping keep us organized, current, and forward thinking. Also, I will be teaching art enrichment to our 5th and 6th graders. Having majored in art, I am very excited to teach and inspire students that love creating as much as I do. After graduating from the University of Georgia, I began my artistic career with mediums from graphic design to professional jewelry but now I am very pleased to have found my way to this awesome school. I look forward to using both sides of my brain for the greater good, and hope to be a friendly resource to all!
